BIO/STATEMENT

[postdisciplinary artist]

Daniela Stubbs-Leví is a Peruvian artist and poet based in Paris. Her practice creates affective cartographies of absence, mapping the porous thresholds between sound, memory, and place. Her practice treats listening as a transformative technology—one that measures echoes, renders absence palpable, and activates collective imagination.

Working with inaudible frequencies, engraved texts, and astrophysical phenomena, she explores how mourning resonates beyond human scales—in collapsing stars, untranslatable languages, and the vibrations that persist when sources disappear.

Her work spans installations, poetic scores, performances, and participatory rituals. A poem becomes the score of a supernova; a silent installation triggers inner voices; a soundwalk transforms into a collective invocation.

Through The Five Laws of Absence—an ongoing cycle combining psychoanalysis, NASA data, and listening architectures—Stubbs-Leví examines how memory inscribes itself materially: in space, in bodies, and in the intervals between sounds. In her work, listening emerges as both a poetic practice and a political act—a way of dwelling in thresholds, honoring what escapes recording, and reclaiming attention as a radical resistance of forgetting.
